I build my own pc as well.

I bought a 3ghz pentium (I've sworn to amd in the past), motherboard with room for 8 gb RAM, PCI-E video card, SATA HDDs.

For you I would suggest if you have the money - a dual core with at least 2 2ghz cpu's, 3gb RAM (you dont need more right now, but make sure you can upgrade), (most motherboards have build in LAN and sound) choose one with 7.1 surround so you can get a nice surround sound speaker set., I dont know much about blueray - sorry. Buy one of the newest video cards as the newest games are best utilized with those. You want a good mouse and keyboard too. gamer mouse and keyboard.
Reply:A processor does not make a computer fast. It certainly does not determine the performance of a gaming computer. Like any machine, computers are purpose built with a variety of components that make them fast. No single element in a computer will make it perform well for games, instead the entire system must be taken into account. If you intend to build a computer, I suggest you do some research and find out exactly what technology will serve your needs. Shopping for a processor alone is not going to yield the results you seek. Your question is too broad in nature since there are many things to consider when designing a computer for gaming purposes. In my opinion, you lack the experience necessary to build a home computer and I would recommend you look further into this matter before taking on the project.
