Nintendo Wii is a family/party console
Reply:Just an idea but you could probably build a new PC for that - it's not really that hard, then you would have gaming and would be able to word process surf the web etc.

Start by searching online for instructions etc. and use sites like http://www.aria.co.uk and http://www.dabs.co.uk to search for parts...

You'll need a Case, Motherboard, Processor, Hard Drive, An Optical Drive (eg DVD-RW) and a graphics card. It would probably just about come in under £220 and if not you can always justify it to parents/other half/yourself as educational/for work.

Failing that or if you already have a PC get a Wii you won't regret it!
Reply:Yes the nintendo wii is best for family gaming
Reply:get the wii and you will even be able to get some games for it with that money they are great fun and there is some good games coming out this year.
Reply:well for the whole family, without a shadow of a doubt, i would definatly recommend the Nintendo Wii.

With enough controllers, the wii is extremely fun with titles for the kids, adults, and titles for practically anyone. if you have wireless internet, this would also be recommendable as it has wireless capabilities already, which means that you can go online in an instant. and at a rrp of 180 pounds, you will have some spare cash to spend on games/accessories or elsewhere.

alternativly, you could look at maybe buying an xbox 360. as this console is well established and has been on the market for a long time, there are a whole range of games that can target almost all age ranges. however, kids probably wont have as much fun playing some of the games on this as if they would on the wii. also, reliability is questionable. my elite has just broken down, and i am ready to sell it straight away for a ps3.

if you can save up a little more...the ps3 is the most powerful out of the next-gen consoles. it has a blu-ray player (a high definition movie player) built in, which can cost up to 500 pounds alone. it is also extremely reliable. in the short term, it is more expensive yes, but when you see that it has wireless, free online gaming, blu-ray, chargeable controllers...etc.. it will be better of in the long term...

in conclusion, i would probably choose the Nintendo Wii as you plan to buy it for the whole family, and also because of your budget which is conveniant for a Wii.

But.... be warned that many retailers are sold out, and wii's are being sold for £200+. try to look for retailers that are in stock and sell them for 180.....

hope this helps :)

WII GAMES: there are many great titles for the wii that can be played by all members of the family. you get 'wii sports' with the console, which is an addictive and fun game which can be played with all the family and it consists of 5 sport games (golf, tennis, boxing, bowling, baseball).

for playing with the family, try 'mario and sonic at the olympic games'. this is a great multiplayer game that can involve the whole family.

for a great single player experience, go for mario galaxy. its a thoroughly enjoyable game which is immense fun for all ages, and is very simple to play.

if you want to spend a little extra, try out guitar hero 3, which is a game where you have to press the correct notes when prompted by the game. it may sound boring, but it is one of the most fun games i have ever played.....
