What is a good gaming computer that will suit a 13 year old?

The only one i can think of is a dell xps m1730, i dont want to get him something to expensive. But, i need something that will last a long time.

That's a pretty sweet laptop. You might be able to go down 1 model. On the other hand, unless he's likely to drop it or otherwise destroy it in the next few years, you'll save yourself money by buying at the top of your price range now...that computer should last him until she gets out of highscool (although he may start complaining around 12th grade). If you go down a model or 2, she'll be complaining in 2.5-3 years. If she is a gamer, I'd suggest getting her a windows XP version of this laptop. There are few games written for vista (directx10) and xp games (directx9) don't run as fast on vista. Also, vista is a cpu and memory hog...it'll start to feel sluggish more quickly than an xp based machine. Although I see microsoft is forcing dell to sell xp for more than vista in order to promote vista. Oh well, it'll be fine..but for games, not as good as xp.

Reply:if you got a desktop rather than a laptop it would be much cheaper. my friend has widowpc widow of warcraft and it seems to be working well
