What is a good laptop for gaming purposes?

I want to get a new laptop that will both serve my life as a student and a gamer. I want something that will easily run high-end games such as Doom 3 and World of Warcraft. It'd be great if I could find one with wireless internet capabilities. Overall, I am looking for a laptop that has a great video card, memory space, RAM space, and the overall works a gamer needs. I'd like to buy one around $1,500 (764 pounds). I'd also like one that is still pretty new on the market.

What is a good laptop for gaming purposes?
find the most expensive laptop, then buy the one right under it. if you want specs youll want 1GB or more of RAM, 200GB hard drive or more, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, windows xp media center edition or the new vista equivalent, and try to find one with a NVIDIA GeForce video card. all laptops come standard with wireless nowadays. they come out with new models every week it seems plus they vary by location. go to an electronics store and they should help you find a good one. the more expensive the better typically, just make sure your just not buying more of what you dont need.
Reply:The Mac Pro is actually quite an impressive gaming machine. With the beta version of Leopard, the World of Warcraft framerates break 200fps. That's with a single GPU. Plus it's a Mac, and better for everything else. Report It

Reply:Sony Vaios. Some of them have a switch where you can switch between Speed and Stamina.

In Stamina mode, it uses a basic built in graphics card for day to day use.

In Speed mode, it used a hi spec NVidia graphics chip which uses a lot more power but gives game speed graphics.
