What is the best new gaming system today?

I'm wondering if the Xbox 360, the PS3, or the Wii is the best console to get. Please take into consideration all the technical details, problems, pricing, and availability.

What is the best new gaming system today?
Well no one console is vastly superior to the next, they all have there strengths and weaknesses, forget about hardware and just pick the console with more of the games you like for me thats the wii especially since it has Zelda and the virtual console, but the other two are good choices too the 360 for FPS and the PS3 for the up coming Final Fantasy 13 games.
Reply:ps3 xbox360 and wii i have them all
Reply:I have the xbox 360 and I love it. I think the wii is for your friends and you to play and you have fun. Playstation 3 hmm well I think the controllers are really really light! like seriously I was over at a friends house and she has both ps3 and xbox 360 and i like held one of the controllers and i dont like them but the ps3 has good graphics its your choice but I love my xbox 360
Reply:i would definately say a wii. my grandma has one and it's addicting! Good luck if you can even one, though. But trust me, it's sooo much fun! i think it's around 250, or 200 dollars. AND it has a lot more games then just mario. Targets are proubably the best place to look for it and in the mornings.
Reply:xbox 360 is the best
Reply:id go with the wii, the wii is probily the funest and best consel out now...its the cheapest consel...only $250...the ps3 is so freakin expensive, its not worth it...and the xbox is ok if u cant find a wii id go with 360...but the wii has free wifi, wii shop channel were u can buy classic nintendo games, and good games...as super mario galaxy, super smash bros. brawl and zelda twilight princess....and ive had my wii for a year and a couple months now and its only freezed ONCE so thats pretty good...
Reply:PS3 is a nice console for the long term for people who play a lot and use it for things like music, and watching hd dvds. Sony keeps its customers happy by working hard for them, but they are being trampled by the 360 because of all the games.

The wii the THE best console if you want fun with your family, the downside, no hd/blu-ray player and it is only good for the elderly and young children that do not have a lot of violence and mature scenes.

I personally chose the 360 because its in the middle, good family games, good mature games, and the online play is unmatched by wii or PS3 because there are a lot less glitchers, hackers, and spammers since you only have to pay approximately 5 dollars a month for it. Making it worth the money. I certainly do not agree with microsoft's customer service because of the countless videos on youtube, but if you get the newer consoles and a warranty, you wont have to deal with them.
Reply:in my opinion it is the xbox360. the only negative is you gotta pay for online play(which i currently do). it has the most choice of diverse games.

The ps3 is nice, though it is complicated. online play is free, but good games are just coming out for it. though its price is extremely high.

the wii is ok, i have one of these too. the wii is fun for plp that like lots of mini games because most of wii's games with a storyline are horrible. the wiis are cheapest and have free online play.
Reply:i would get the 360. yea the wii is fun but it doesnt have good playability also the ps3 has a little bit better graphics but most games that come out for the ps3 come out for the 360. also if you decide to get the 400 dollar ps3 you wont be able to play ps2 games :( but the 360 will play most of the xbox games without problem
Reply:their really is no best system today because all the systems have their ups and downs. allow me to explain

other facts about the systems

the ps3 is worth the $400 bucks, this year it will rule the console war. it has great titles like devil may cry 4, burnout paradise and heavenly sword. it also has many good games coming out this year like metal gear solid 4, haze, killzone 2, grand theft auto 4, dynasty warriors six and soul calibur 3.

the xbox 360 has crazy amounts of good games. it has gears of war, halo 3, mass effect and many others. if you want a system that has an impressive library this is it and on top of all this you can go on xbox live and kick ***.

The wii is incredibly fun, its games aren't hardcore but they're not boring either. the problem is finding one though but if you do you''ll probably enjoy it more than the other two. two games i had particular fun with were super mario galaxy and metroid prime corruption. also it has super smash bros. brawl coming out soon, which words can't describe how fun it will be.
Reply:The Wii is the cheapest, and online is free, but doesnt have games like Turok or Oblivion..

Xbox 360 is cheaper than PS3, and has games like Turok and Oblivion, but you have to pay for online..

PS3 is the most expensive, but the most powerfull machine, has free online, and has games like Turok and Oblivion..

I could go into more detail, but thats it all in a nutshell :)

If you're into more fun games like Crash Bandicoot or stuff like that, then any of the consoles are good..but the Wii is more fun to play when it comes to those games...but remember i have a Wii :)
Reply:im honestly a fan of the 360. I have no problem paying to play the games online it helps keep the game servers running fast and keeps a lot of unwanted people out. the wii is a fun system but its more of a novilty and it wears off after about 2 months, also its still extreemly hard to find in most areas.
Reply:i think even thouh the graphics arn't as goot the wii. just has more to it
Reply:i say its the wii. its hard to get your hands on one, but if your determined its not impossible at all. It doesnt have a huge choice of games right now, but it is receiving more M and T games nowadays. Online is also free, and is more fun than you can imagine at parties.

If your looking to buy, I would grab a Wii before anything else.
Reply:my personal favorite is the ps3. the wii is always out of stock and has the same type of games - they always seem to be mario something etc, the 360 you have to pay money to do most stuff, and the ps3 has the best specs, has recently come down in price, has features as standard and free that you would have to pay for if you had an xbox, eg online gaming , hard drive, plus it also has good games.

How do I build a gaming computer on a budget?

I want to build a computer that can handel 3D games as well as preform my usual every day tasks (word processing, web surfing, etc.). I am looking to spend around $600 or less. Any suggestions on reliable sources for parts? And what exactly am I getting myself into?

How do I build a gaming computer on a budget?
www.newegg.com

I don't think $600 will do it. Might, if you go a bit light on the video card, but then you want gaming. My nVidia 6800 128 bit handles games like Doom III and Prey at 1024x768 on medium settings. And I only have the older Athlon 3000+ cpu.

Don't skimp on the main board, but don't go light on one, either.

Make sure the front side bus on the main board matches the ram ratings. Of course, make sure the cpu slot handles your cpu. You gotta match these three things up well.

You can save money by getting a smaller hard drive than usual, as you don't really need a gazillion gigs of hdd space for a few games and word processing and web surfing and email.
Reply:Hey that sounds like a fun thing to do. Let me tell you what I did. I got an awesome gaming computer and I kid you not I got it new for under $400.

I had an emachine and this is not a good computer to get as a gaming machine.....or so...I thought :-)

Emachines are cheap but the problem is all the ones I found ran pci slots which means you could only put in a pci card and you couldn't play battlefield 2 or Fear but only ugly wimply looking games.

So I started to think like you are and I went to compusa and I couldn't believe my eyes! There was a new 3.20 ghz computer for $295.00!! But heres the surprise part. It was an emachine but now Emachines have pci express slots!

So you can put an awesome card in that sucker and so here is what I did.

I went on ebay and got an nvidia 512mb gforce card that flys.

Then I maxed out the memory on the system at 2 gigs.

I have 0 lag and can play FEAR Battlefield 2 and even the new bf2142 without lag.

My scores when I am online gaming are always in the top 10 out of 64 players and sometimes I'm the #1 player so I know the machine rocks.

For the money you can't beat it and it even came loaded with windows xp.

I couldn't build one for that price lol. Now it didn't come with a monitor but just a keyboard and the computer but I already had a monitor.

Most guys would say don't get an emachine and there was a time when I was one of those guys but emachines is all new now.

Reply:It's hard to find parts that cost less than $600. Usually, building a computer will only cost less when replacing high end PCs. Low ends will acually cost less when you buy them. Try dell.com, but remember: $600 will not get you very far.

How much money per hour does it take to run a high powered gaming pc?

I have a pc with a 1000w power supply. I know 1000w per hour is I think 15 cents. Does it always use its full 1000w or will it run at lower watts when it is idling?

How much money per hour does it take to run a high powered gaming pc?
1000w PSU does not mean that it is supplying 1000w all the time. It means it is capable of providing 1000w. I'd be surprised if you were using a quarter of that, but it depends on your system - i.e., do you have a lot of hardware (multiple hard disks, disk drives, fans, processors etc.)
Reply:as an exaple, use my system,

1010w PSU

Core 2 Quad Q6600 overclocked to 3.6 GHz

2 x 8800 GTX in SLI and overclocked

4GB of DDR2 @ 1200MHz

total of 6 HDDs

X-FI Sound

also running a watercooling loop

i'll sleep a little better at night if it's only 15cents per hour

How do you deal with husband's addiction for Online Gaming ?

I am a Mom with 2 children and I work from home and take care of everything. When my husband come back from work he relax a little bit then he start to play Counter Strick which is an Online games for hours and hours (sometime he sleep at 2 pm). I think he is addicted because he talks about the game all the time and when he did not play he is very nervous. I can not talk to him when he plays because he is too focus in his game. However, when he plays, you can see him smiling and loughing etc. and I feel that he spent most of his time playing with stranger then talking with me and our children.

I do not know what to do to convince him that he is addicted and what to do to resolve what I think is a problem for our couple and little family. Please Help !! Thanks for all of you.

How do you deal with husband's addiction for Online Gaming ?
Sweetie I have been there!!!

My husband and I both played MMORPG games, Everquest and World of Warcraft, however I knew the difference between play time and work time. I understand what you say about not being able to talk to him while he is playing and ignoring the children while playing with perfect strangers. The situation got a little more complicated when I turned to the game to find the attention that my hubby wa no longer giving me, and I made a big mistake...I started chatting with a young man and things got crazy. Well for us that brought the gaming to a head, we both quit playing and are now so much happier, instead of playing on the computer all night, we go see movies and spend time with each other.

For you I would suggest having a long talk with him, and try to get him to understand that while it is relaxing for him, you could use some attention and the kids are suffering because of this addiction (which yes it can become an addiction). Hopefully your husband will be understanding, and see the error of his ways. If that doesn't work go into the programs folder and remove the program from the computer, and throw away the disks!!!! It may be harsh and it may start an argument, but it will work!
Reply:Hey i do not know the answer to this question but do tell me if u find any feasible and fool proof solution to his addiction. iam suffering from the same. thx, anyways
Reply:I always say that love is about understanding, He needs to understand that the way you relieve stress is through being with family and watching chik fliks. You need to understand that the way he relievs his stress is through Physical hands on stimulation. Here is my advise when the kids go to bed (as early as possible) then that is your time with him. Go put on a nice scent, a nice night and just see which one wins (your enchantment or his silly little game). I am not mixing words here you need to fulfill his fantasia more than that game ever could. I know it is a stretch but 4 or 5 times in any given week and sporadically. You will soon find him doing the dinner dishes and helping thet kids get ready for bed because he wants you guessed it YOU.
Reply:THERE ARE MEETINGS HE CAN ATTEND. MY FRIENDS HUSBAND HAD A HUGE GAMBLING ADDICTION AND HE HAS BEEN ATTENDING THESE MEETINGS AND HE IS TOTALLY CLEAN NOW. IT IS CALL GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS. CHECK YOUR LOCAL AREA.
Reply:Well you could ummm sabotage his computer (loosen the hard drive cable or something inside the case). You could have the internet connection turned off. Hack into his game and do something illegal so he gets banned.

Oh wait, that's if you don't want a husband anymore. ;-)

I would suggest telling him that he needs to spend more time with the kids and limit his gaming. See if he can limit himself to just after the kids are in bed, or just on weekends or something like that.

If that doesn't work, then well... I gave you some other ideas. ;-)
Reply:I usually don't answere questions when there are already so many good responses but the truth is my marriage ended because of DOD, ok there were other isssues but when you send the kids to your moms, and greet him butt naked on the kitchen counter and all he does is kiss you then log on there is an addiction. Addictions of any kind are hard to treat without therapy. We tried talking. I tried yelling. I even compromised by saying so many hours a night. The kids even tried talking to him... that was the closest we got to recovery. Nothing worked. I tried getting rid of the computer then he just didn't come home from work or he would go play at a friends house. I even tried playing with him. We became disconected and eventually I became suicidal. Great feelings to have while raising 2 kids huh? That game ruined everything we had. And it wasn't po rn it wasn't sex, it wasn't another woman. It was DOD, a slightly different version of counter strike... less hackers, more maps. You want to convince him all I can really offer is my own story, share it with him if you want. If he doesn't believe my story have him talk to the members of the former Superclan about RebelCwby, about his frequency. He has his own clan and server called the nightclub now. And I have a new husband and have never been happier. Ask your husband, is that stupid game worth everything. To my kids father it was. Good luck, hopefully your man loves you more than mine did.
Reply:He needs help. It is the same as when you have children addicted to computer games, they are addicted to the adrenalin rush. It's also easier to sit at a computer than interact with other humans.... You need to sit down and make the same kind of rules as you would with a kid. It probably will be easier for him to hear this from a stranger, so speak to your clergyman and ask if he/she will counsel your husband. Maybe he will listen then and realize he has a gaming problem. Good luck.
Reply:Call your internet provider and cancel service.
Reply:Tell him up front that you have a problem with that.
Reply:divorce! my x was addicted to the internet in general, wanted me to believe it was just about "playing a game". until i out some spyware on there and bam!.. he was caught!
Reply:seduce him
Reply:heres an idea genius break the disc smash the comp and than just to make sure he doesnt have another copy break the case than when he comes home tell him ur kids did it
Reply:If none of the other suggestions and advice works, DIVORCE!
Reply:call the gambles anonmous no in your phone book they have a group for wives or partners of the addicted person for support advice etc. Get advice from them who have lived it not us.

Breaking the disc is only going to make him get more. Ask my first husband was a professional gambler who lost our house from under us, i know the pain you are coming from. I wouldn't do anything at all for him like make tea, clean his clothes. etc. make him see all that you do and get him to do his own share. GET HELP FOR YOURSELF QUICK%26gt;

Take care I will be thinking of you.
Reply:YOU DON'T DEAL WITH IT, HE DOES! SO GET RID OF HIS STUPID BUTT UNTIL HE DOES!
Reply:get rid of the computer if he cant have it there he cant go on. best way blow it up so then he cant get mad with you.

What does a physics card do to help gaming ect?

Isnt all the physics programed into the software in a game and how does a physics card make a game like half life better?

What does a physics card do to help gaming ect?
Physics card improves on the "effects" physics. Gameplay physics is the one embedded in the game itself. Physics card affects the experience of the gamer but NOT the outcome of the game. More details here:

What's the best gaming computer out there and how expensive?

IO'm talking abpout equipped with the best video cards and best sounds cards - able to handle games like Far Cry and Doom 3 at the best graphics.

What's the best gaming computer out there and how expensive?
Go to http://unitedmicro.com They have the best site for constructing your own computer that I know of. When you build a computer yourself you save a bundle, feel good about yourself, know exactly what is in your system and become way more savvy about how to fix it when something goes wrong. The down side that you will have no "whole computer" guarantee. These previous answers are right on the mark. If you want a computer that does what you want it to do you got to do it yourself.

Don't let assembling a computer yourself scare you. It is pretty much like plugging your periferals in the back of your computer, i.e., if the plug doesn't fit the socket it doesn't go there :)

I built a computer five years ago that was an absolute screamin demon at that time. The tower and all that was in it cost me about $1,100 (not the monitor). To buy a simular name brand computer at that time would have cost at least 2,200. Here I am five years later and the computer I built is still worth nearly what I paid for it.
Reply:alienware is not the best, they are the most expensive.

Go with Dell or build it yourself. Dell can contain the same parts as alienware but with much lower manufacturing costs.

Building it yourself is always the cheapest.

Just remember, no matter the gaming rig, there will always be games that will slow it down.

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products...
Reply:definetly Alienware, they can cost up to about $2900, depending on type(laptop, desktop)
Reply:Not really a good idea to stick to Dell or a name brand. The best gaming PC's are the ones u build yourself and thats the bottom line. Get a good motherboard, a good processor, plenty of RAM and hard disk storage and a good monitor and u are good to go.
Reply:DIY man. Building a PC by yourself is always better.

What are some of the ways i can make money in the gaming industry at the age of 17?

Maybe just a summer job.

I have no experience in programming or anything of the ilk.

What are some of the ways i can make money in the gaming industry at the age of 17?
At 17 years old, the closest you'll be able to get to the game industry is working at a place like GameStop. No game studio offers summer or part time jobs -- you must be able to work full time, in an office, often 9am to 6pm, to be able to work in the game industry. Once you graduate high school, your choices open up a bit. If you live near a game studio (check the map here: http://gamedevmap.com/ ), you may be able to get a job as a Quality Assurance tester once you graduate high school. Customer service and Tech Support are also options, but may be more difficult to break into than QA. Most studios also need office support, for mail room, answering phones, etc.

To get into any form of game development, you will need to get a college degree first. Get a Computer Science degree if you are interested in programming, or a Fine Arts degree if you are interested in any visual aspect of the game. Getting into game design (the process of thinking up every tiny detail of gameplay) is very competitive. You need in a Bachelor's degree, but it can be in whatever you want; you need strong math and writing skills; and you need to understand what makes a game fun.

Yes it is. Before you go on though, go to linksys.com and check if there is any firmware you need to download. So it does not slow up your connection speed or not get a connection for that matter.

What would be the cost of a good-ish laptop for gaming?

Ideally, i dont want to spend loads on this, but i do want to get a decent enough one. If anyone could recomend any specific models or anything, that'd be great. Cheers.

What would be the cost of a good-ish laptop for gaming?
I recommend that you go for an Intel Centrino dual core processor or quad core if you can find one. Don't go for the Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad etc... coz they don't really perform the best on laptops but centrino does.

Don't get Windows vista. Vista is bad for many reasons. One, for gaming, most games aren't compatible with Vista, only new ones are. Two there are alot of bugs and stuff that needa be fixed. Three Vista is bad for networking so if you LAN with your mates, who have XP its not going to be that easy to play with each other.

Get a Nvidia card because Nvidia is sponsored and supported by leading manufactures like Intel and EA games etc... I sugest you get one from 7000 series AT LEAST and that you have 256MB of video ram, But that depends on what games you wanna play. Nvidia though has been know to stuff up using the Source engine which CS source use and portal....Half Life....Team Fortress 2 but if you don't play these games, then Nvidia will do good.

Get at least 1GB of DDR2 RAM

I hope this has helped you and don't spend too much on your gaming rig.

There is no ''easy'' or ''fast'' way to code a game, especially from scratch.I suggest you look up some tutorials, and practice ALOT! once you know the basics, you should try modding an open-source game similar to the one you want to make, so you can learn more.

What are good but cheap gaming computer parts?

I was going to buy parts for a gaming computer im building but im on a tight budget and need some good but cheap parts a detailed list would help

What are good but cheap gaming computer parts?
You must overclock CPU to achieve good gaming performance on a cheap build:

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP35-DS3L P35 Intel LGA775 board. Good compatibility (new intel cpu's), nice bios, good overclocking, good manuals

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

$90

CPU: Two options for a budget here, Pentium Dual Core E2180/E2200 ($70, Allendale 65nm) or Core 2 Duo E7200 ($135, Wolfdale 45nm). The E2180/E2200 overclock to arround 3.0ghz and the E7200 overclocks to 3.8ghz easily. The E7200 is a no brainer if you got the money. Also runs cooler, newer, faster, better.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

RAM: 2gb PC2-6400 Dual Channel, use XP for this build as Vista will increase system cost and decrease system performance. Doubtful you'll see too much DX10 advantage on a cheap build. 2gb OCZ dual channel low latency, plenty for XP build.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

$30

Power Supply: High quality Corsair 450W (yes this is plenty on a good PSU). This enough power for a non-sli crossfire rig.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

Video Card:

Depending on budget I recommend one of the following:

HD 3850, HD 3870, or 8800 GT, in increasing order of goodness.

HD 3850, basically the best deal for an into top tier card, and this powercolor has a nice cooler and a good price, maybe 10-15% slower than 3870...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

HD 3870, this card comes with a perfect cooler and pre-overclocked at a very reasonable price and should whoop any 9600GT.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

8800 GT: HD 3870 is about 10% slower, and more games are optimized toward nVidia. This MSI has a pretty good cooler and comes overclocked:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...
Reply:Check out newegg, tigerdirect, directron, mwave, microcenter, and fry's for computer parts.

For a cheap but good system, get:

A dual core processor ~$150

Gigabyte P35-DS3L ~$90

2GB RAM ~$35

some harddrive ~$60

DVD drive ~$30

Nvidia 9600GT ~$150

Case + good brand PSU (500W) ~$100

This will cost you about $600 with Windows, less if you find better deals.

What gaming system should I get for young children?

I have a 3 %26amp; 4 year old, but my husband would also like to play racing games...we aren't serious gaming people but something to take the kids into their childhood...and bring back my husbands.

What gaming system should I get for young children?
Gamecube for sure, mostly everyone else who answered your question answered ps2,3, or x-box systems, very bad!! no but really. A gamecube is 99$ from a local wal-mart and they also make many childrens games, like mario, animal crossing, many zelda games, super smash bros, many fun children friendly games. And I know you may go with what the majority of the people who answered your question and it wont be gamecube but you should look into it yourself believe me. The gamecube will be the best. oh and definitly has racing games=D
Reply:To whomever said get a library card....thanks, we all have one and go to the library twice a week....my children love story hour. Gaming systems do sell educational games and whether you want to admit it or not, they are very good for hand eye coordination and concentration skills. Report It

Reply:you could try a PS2 or Xbox or Xbox 360 or PS3 or maybe even a Wii
Reply:Atari - Poll Position II is the greatest game ever created.
Reply:ps3 ,ps2, xbox, xbox360 are for serious gamers in my onpinion

i would recommend the wii but careful because you can break your big screen swing that controller around
Reply:i suggest the Nintendo Wii, fun for the whole family and easy to use. the Ps3 and Xbox360 are not kid friendly systems
Reply:my sister just got a super nintendo for her kids on ebay simple to use, fun games, games are cheap
Reply:Gamecube, because it should be less expensive by now, it has great games for kids (Mario Parties and Animal Crossing), and it definitly has racing games
Reply:well for a good price and a good quality system iwould sugjest the nintendo wii

its more of a kids thing but can also be cool for adults

the wii has motion sensiong movements witch is awesom
Reply:Xbox or a PS2. They are fairly cheap, there are plenty of games for all ages on all of them, and because the games have been out for a while, you can find good new games for around $20, sometimes even less.
Reply:gamecube is also a great choice because it allows four controllers to be plugged into the main system (just like they did for N64) - but usually the system only comes with 1 controller. extra controllers are available for purchase in stores like gamestop. a memory card is required for a lot of games to play, even if you're not actually saving.

mario party games are good, i think there are like 3 for gamecube. it's a bunch of mini games, from what i understand

animal crossing is great, you are a townsperson setting up a town, and you can fish to collect fish, use your bug net to collect bugs, etc..

there are also many games that are video game collections -

megaman X collections is great, it's a great game that even though you can use passwords to get back to certain parts of the game, you can always start at the beginning and get right in on the action - the beginning story is quite short

sonic also has a number of 'collections' games

avoid longer games, rpgs, because even if they're great, you can't really play other people's files, they are normally 1 player and it takes long to play (in other words, only one person at a time) however, final fantasy crystal chronicles would have been good if you could use controllers for players 1-3 instead of the gba that is required. (so that's another bad choice)

i'm including a link to a site you're sure to be interested in - in the source area

How do you report someone for point gaming?

I saw someone consistently getting the same number of votes for his answers. Isn’t this point gaming? If those who vote for this person’s answers are members of his family or his friends does this constitute point gaming?

How do you report someone for point gaming?
It has to be investigated, but you send an email to the staff (y_answrs_team@yahoo.com) explaining your concerns and what suspicions you have that leads you to this conclusion.
Reply:just report it as point gaming..but remember this that only happens if the answers go up to a vote they are fair game for anyone to vote on them.as long as this person is not making multple accounts and doing it from the same computer
Reply:Hit the report it button and explain "point gaming".
Reply:That would be very difficult to prove, I wouldn't report them unless I had proof.

I endorse Stephen's comment about the answer team looking into it.

I would put it directly in the hands of the gaming authority for investigation, hopefully with my name NOT in the record.

Is a DSL Internet connection fast enough for online gaming and Internet sharing on a home network?

I am thinking about getting a DSL internet connection from Verison for $14.99 a month. it has 768 kbps download speed and 128 kbps upload speed according to the website. Is this fast enough for me to play online games and to share an internet connection with the other 3 computers in my house?

Is a DSL Internet connection fast enough for online gaming and Internet sharing on a home network?
Yes it is fast enough, that is what I have and I download everything practicly, from playing games on real arcade to over one hundred thousand music files on limewire. But I have 226 GB so I don't know what you have but mine is fast enough, I only have mine on one line, one computer. I put some help sites for you, hope this helps you in your findings!
Reply:No, not with your setup. You need to get the top of the line offering which is the Elite I believe. You are looking at Basic at that price.
Reply:This is the slowest DSL speed available - it might be a little slow for online gaming - and sharing the connection with 3 other computers. It would be worth it to get the high speed.
Reply:no, you would not want to get anything slower than 3meg download.
Reply:i'd say you'd struggle with the speed and would suggest you go for a faster download speed
Reply:Yes. If it's not you can always get it upgraded.
Reply:You would be much better off to have Cable Internet in the range of 4-6MB/s

Especially when you are considering multiple computers connected and more than one system gaming.

768Kb/s DSL is great if you have just one system or just check email and casual web browsing on the systems. It won't offer the speed you need for gaming.
Reply:get the faster package from verizon like i got i average of 2831 kbps for me its good. also if u purchase it online from verizon they will give you a free upgrade to a wireless modem/router otherwise costing you like $80.00... its fast for online gaming and downloading.
Reply:That speed would probably be ok for playing one game at a time but if you think you'll be playing a PC game online at the same time as your brother is using Xbox Live then you'll probably need a faster connection. This will depend on the games though and how much network traffic they generate.

Those prices also seem very expensive for such a slow connection. I have to admit I'm from UK so I don't know what prices are like in the US but it would be a total rip off here.
Reply:Depends on the game. Some games it's fine, other more elaborate games require a cable speed to play well. Experiment. The Xbox should be fine because there is a built-in delay on most games for them to synch up.
Reply:dear friend

speed you mensioned is fine for gaming but in the gaming field when the speed is better you graphics will work smothly and then if you can make your connection 1Mbps or 2Mbps it will be better

but again this speed if fine

about the sharing with other computers this will slow down your speed and maybe the games will not work properly
Reply:That should be fine for gaming but what you could do is call your isp and I bet for a couple more dollars they can get you up to at least a 1.5 or 3meg connection that would be a great speed for what you are doing but the speed you have now should be ok.
Reply:It is always interesting to answer this type of question.

Immature kids want unrealistic speeds and tell you you cannot deal with anything under 768 Kbps up and 4,000 Kbps (4 Mbps) down until they have to pay the bill.

To answer your question - the speed quoted is a little light on upload speed for intense applications. I suspect you cannot get a faster DSL due to distance or it would be offered by Verizon. Running 3 game pcs simultaneously are likely to be hampered.

Finally a home grade router that sells for under $100 may be more of a problem - as they cannot handle heavy loads.

How should I upgrade my computer for better internet gaming?

I mainly use my computer for playing rpg and fps games but lately I've been getting alot of computer stuttering (stops like every 7 seconds) and a low rate of frames per second.

I have a dell inspiron 5100-

Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz, 2.66GHz, 512mb of RAM.

I've run defrags, error checked, deleted everything I can but I still get bad performance...

I don't know a whole lot about computer hardware, should I upgrade my RAM from 512mb? Should I go for a new processor? Or is there something else I can do?

How should I upgrade my computer for better internet gaming?
Once your processor is over 2.4GHz (in old P4 terms), the biggest gaming factor becomes the video card. So in your case, that's the first thing I would look at upgrading.

Also, RAM is fairly cheap. Check to see if your system supports dual-channel memory and make sure you have it set that way if it does. Bump up the amount to 1GB as well if possible.

Besides upgrading RAM and the video card, there's nothing else I'd recommend changing. It would be more cost efficient to replace the PC with a new one before I'd recommend doing anything else. In fact, you might want to use that money now towards a new PC instead of wasting time/money on this one.
Reply:The more RAM you have in your computer the better most computers now come with at least 1MB. Check with Dell Web site to see how much RAM you can add to your computer. Next what is your connection to the Internet? Is it cable if so you may need to review your Ethernet card. If you think you need a new processor it is time to buy a new computer. I think the one you have should be OK.
Reply:Your best bet is to buy more memory and possibly a graphics car which will have additional memory. You may have too many files on your computer slowing it down and causing lag. Good luck, generally an easy fix.
Reply:there is nothing wrong with ur processor...what u need is just another 512ram or 1gb ram...you can try to upgrade ur graphic card.......the best graphic card would be nvidia..gamer choice graphic card..
Reply:Add more memory. Also you might have programs running in the background that are not really needed.
Reply:You might have to spring for a new computer. You might need a better vid card which you cannot replace.Try to add a stick of RAM and to get a better HD.
Reply:Upgrading the RAM would be easiest. Then I would look at upgrading your graphics card (consult your owner's manual) if you can.

I would shoot for at least 1 more GB of RAM.

This will give you the kind of RAM you need:

I am thinking about getting the Wii for my son. He is 7. How good or bad is this gaming system?

We have never owned a gaming system before. Any advice will help.

I am thinking about getting the Wii for my son. He is 7. How good or bad is this gaming system?
It's fun for kids, plus they move a lot with the controllers (secret excercise!!!). The games are less violent than other systems, I have an x-box 360 but I wouldn't let my kid touch it with a 10 foot pole!! Wii is a great choice for a 7 year old.
Reply:The Wii is perfect for a 7 year old or a 40 year-old. The interactive system is a blast and will leave you laughing your head off. It's really great for you because you've never owned a gaming system; it's an easy, perfect starter-system. With games like wii-sports which make it easy to play the game, where you just swing a racket or baseball bat or throw a bowling ball, it feels like you're right there in the game. Go for it, it's definitely the best system w/ the best value. Your son will love it!
Reply:Yes it is, the wii is a great gaming system that is the cheapest in it’s

Category, fun to play, is good for kids, and has great multiplayer. It is also good exercise

With the motion controls and the games are kid, oriented.

I would get the wii at toys r us.

I walked right in on a Sunday morning and they had about 10 there.

If you go when they open on Sunday, this is when they get their shipment.

Do not go to best buy or target, even on the days they say they are going to get the shipments they don’t have them.

Good Luck

P.S. Some good games to get on the wii are wii play- the games are fun and it comes with an extra controller, and Need for speed carbon, a great way to utilize the motion sensing on the Wii and a good racing game! Another good racing game is excite truck, it is awesome on multiplayer.
Reply:I can't do anything but second everything already said. When I was about your son's age, my folks bought me an Atari 2600 (all the rage back then). My point? The Wii is this generation's Atari 2600 - good games, great support, with even better stuff on the way (Mario Party 8 this month, Mario Galaxy in the months ahead). It's a sure, safe bet. It's just perfect for your family! If you're like ours, you'll find you spend even more time together as a result of it!
Reply:My daughter is 7, and we LOVE the wii. Even grandma likes to play! There are plenty of games for the younger set, and I would highly recommend it.

I would also recommend the optional charging station for the wiimote. the batteries seemed to die quickly.
Reply:Wii is great for everyone but so is the DS.
Reply:Very good, for everyone, me, my mum and my grandma (and that is a funny sight) it can get the whole family together having a laugh. The wii is one of the most suitable consoles for a kid as it isn't hard to pick up and play. However, it can get boring if he wants to play on his own, especially if he doesn't have brothers or sisters. You can get some very good games for all ages and all abilities. It is very good for first-time gamers as it is easy to pick up and play like a tennis racket, golf club etc etc.

Overall, great in groups and still addictive when playing on your own.
Reply:your son will love the wii
Reply:i think the wii is a great console, and it would be a great interactive gift for your son. But if you are a serious gamer which u are probably not then the best console is the xbox 360 other wise the wii is a great console that will be the envy of his friends and give him plenty of excercise while he's GAMING. that's almost impossible these days.
Reply:my brother has a Wii and i love it the most out of all the systems! Its great for kids cause it promotes physical activities while incorporating the gaming system that they love (and i think we can all agree that physical activities are very much needed for today's youth). Another plus is that games that are not full of needless violence are easy to find and its something the whole family can enjoy!
Reply:The Wii is a GREAT system for kids and people who are new to gaming. It's very intuitive; it's easy to pick up the controller right off and figure out how to use it, as opposed to most game controllers that take a bit of practice to figure out. And most of the Wii games are great for multiplayer, which means you can enjoy playing them as a family with your son. It doesn't have the best graphics, and to "hardcore gamers" it does tend to get old fast, but for a situation like yours it is perfect. I highly recommend you get one if you're looking for a game console.

How can I use a proxy for foreign gaming?

I want to play a foreign game that normally I wouldn't have access to. Such as, playing a Taiwanese game from the USA. I've heard people that play these games through a proxy. My friends and I are able to read and understand Chinese, but have no access to the game because of our foreign IP. I know people use a type of proxy, but I have no clue how it works and what it does.

What kind of monitor do you use for gaming?

I have heard people that use CRTs, or old school monitors, to play games, and use their LCDs to meet their everyday computing needs. Why is that?

When I hooked up my TV to my video card, I noticed COD4 ran better. And its a 32" old Sony TV and my LCD is a 19".

What kind of monitor do you use for gaming?
CRT are better for gaming, provided that you get a good one.

I use a .21 dpi CRT for games, it's about 4 years old or so and still beat LCD's that I see.

The main reasons I went with a CRT instead of LCD is the ghosting effect, better picture quality, and the fact that if I hit the stand my monitor is on the screen doesn't shake.

The really BAD thing about my monitor is it weighs about a little more than a a TV for its size. About 25 pounds or so I think. It's currently causing the cheep Comp desk I bought at Walmart to bend in the middle because of this. If you have a quality desk it will be no problem though.

Check Ebay or overstock if your looking for one. Better quality and a lot cheeper thru them.

Is there a way to hook up a gaming console to a Dish Network receiver?

I have no hook up on my television (it's a very crappy TV) but I do have the red, yellow, and white hook ups on the back of the Dish Network Receiver. Any help at all is appreciated.

Thanks you guys!

Is there a way to hook up a gaming console to a Dish Network receiver?
You probably can't run the game console through the Dish receiver. Instead, get a video switch box. Hook the Dish receiver and the game console up to the switch box inputs, then the output from the switch box goes to the TV. Hit a button on the switch box to choose the Dish or the game system.

This is one switch box at Radio Shack:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....

But look at the back of your TV and see what connectors it has going into it. That will tell you what kind of switch box to get. You don't have to go to Radio Shack, these may be available at Target, etc.
Reply:dish network receivers can only send video out of the red yellow white hookups. the only way is to buy one of those things that you connect to the "antenna/cable" entrance that allows u to connect the av cables

If you went to a gaming festival, what kind of movies would you want to see in the chill out room?

I'm organizing a large gaming festival and we have a room where you can relax and watch movies like blade runner etc. What other movies would you suggest that have a gaming theme? i.e. Street fighter etc. and/or anime?

If you went to a gaming festival, what kind of movies would you want to see in the chill out room?
Shonen anime should be pretty safe, provided the games at the festival aren't rhythm games or MMOs.

I'd stay away from the Holywood movies based on video games, except for maybe the first Mortal Kombat and the first Resident Evil. Most of the others were popular with neither the fans of the series nor the genreal public.

If you expect mostly adult gamers, you might get a good chuckle out of showing The Wizard (the Fred Savage movie from the mid 80's that was a big Nintendo advertisement).

Also, depending on who is going to be there, you might want to shy away from R-rated movies, particularly if they have nudity.

What is the best video card (mainly for gaming) to use on an eMachine that doesn't break the budget?

I came across a small problem when I tried to install the games Halo and SWAT4 on my computer; I couldn't play them! I'm guessing I need a new video card. Where do I start? I have tried contacting both Microsoft and eMachines, niether of them answered and I'm just running in circles with fourms %26amp; FAQs.

What is the best video card (mainly for gaming) to use on an eMachine that doesn't break the budget?
That depends on what kind of bus you have for grahics expansion (AGP or PCIe), I can point you in the right direction of a graphics card but only you know what kind of expansion card you have, if you aren't sure post back with the model number of your computer and I can probably tell you. At any rate you will want to look at something like a 256MB Radeon 9600XT or a Geforce 6600GT both are excellent mid-level cards and provide the best performance for their price range and it really depends on your budget as to which one you get. Personally I would go with the 128MB Geforce 6600GT, yes the 9600XT has 256MB of memory but the amount of memory (as far as graphics go) isn't the end all be all of existence. The Geforce 6600GT has a faster core and memory clock thus equaling better performance, even if it only has half the memory.

If you have an AGP slot you can get either the Radeon 9600XT or Geforce 6600GT, if you have a PCIe slot then you have to get the 6600GT as it comes in both AGP and PCIe versions. I guess what I'm trying to say is that regardless of which type of slot you have the 6600GT is the way to go.

AGP 6600GT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

($113 after rebate)

PCIe 6600GT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... ($114 after rebate)

AGP Radeon 9600XT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... ($83)

If you didn't have a dedicated graphics card before that is likely your problem, but did it give you a specific error when you tried to install them? (I'm just asking because it could be something else).

Yep, that sure does help. Okay, you're right, it is the graphics card, you are plagued with the S3 Unichrome Integrated Chipset which is far below the challenge of even attempting to play Halo or SWAT4, it's a terrible terrible graphics chip. And as far as expansion you have an AGP slot, so you can go with either the Radeon 9600XT or Geforce 6600GT but I would go with the AGP 6600GT but it is your choice and your budget so I leave it to you.

If you want to see what your computer has go here, http://www.davidphan.com/productDetail.a... though I'm sure you must know some of this.

It is up to you now. Good luck!
Reply:If i were you i'd get a nvidia, much cheaper and most of the time,it has better value.

What is the best Internet provider for gaming that is still at a reasonable price?

I play a lot of Halo online and the internet connection is split between my xbox, another xbox, and my computer so it seems to make it so I always have lag. I need an Internet connection that will still be fast after being split up.

What is the best Internet provider for gaming that is still at a reasonable price?
Verizon DSL has ALWAYS been faster for us than RoadRunner. And MUCH cheaper.

How do i make a online gaming website like runescape for free?

Is there a website i can make a game like runescape i can make for free?

How do i make a online gaming website like runescape for free?
Runescape is a very complex game to design. Unless you are an experienced game designer (which i doubt you are because you asked this question) you should start off with more simple games. There is this one program that is very easy to use ( i used it in fifth grade) and creates good games, like varitions of pacman. I forgot what it is called Sorry. Try google-ing "How to create an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.)
Reply:Like the guy above me said, your ignorance in this field truly shows because you asked this. Do you even know what programming is? Do you know what a programming language is? Do you know what Java and applets are?

Runescape is made in Java and runs in your browser in applet form. Go ahead and google Java. It's a pretty easy language to learn and you'll start learning games in no time.
Reply:search in google how to make a runescape retro

Ask about a Gaming mouse button, how do you describe a button click one time it can do four times clicks?

I am writing a specification of gaming mouse. I found this mouse which one of button can do four times clicks if you click it only one time by your forefinger.

1.How do I describe this button's function using professional phrase?

2.If you could give me any gaming mouse website mention it , that would be helpful.

Thank you very much.

Ask about a Gaming mouse button, how do you describe a button click one time it can do four times clicks?
In the NES days they called it "turbo"

Comon feature on aftermarket controllers.
Reply:How bout rapid fire response.
Reply:It depends what you mean:

1) it clicks the same button 4 times or

2)it clicks 4 buttons in sequence

Meaning =

1) is called a "turbo" button

2) I would call "programmable" or a "macro" button.
Reply:This would be called a MACRO, which is asking the computer to send a signal, or mulitple signals, more then once with only one (or no) input. You can simulate it with programs, such as auto hot key.
Reply:Or if it is strictly 4 times only that it repeats, you could call it a quad-click?

How do I get my gamer boyfriend to accept my lower level of gaming experience?

He plays video games, so do I. But how do I get him to accept the fact that I'm not as good as he is?

How do I get my gamer boyfriend to accept my lower level of gaming experience?
Does it really matter if he is better in video games? If it really bothers him that you aren't as good as him, he's a jerk. I'm sure that's not the case so here are some tips...

1. Ask him is he knows how lucky he is to find a g/f that actually plays video games! My b/f LOVES it

2. Find a game that you like (and are decent at) and make him play you

3. Some people aren't good with certain video games. I and horrible at those war games, so I usually don't play them. If you like driving games for example, maybe you can kick his butt and knock him down a peg.

4. Practice a fighting game (like tekken or mortal combat) it is very easy just to mash buttons and do a good job and kick his butt!

5. I don't understand exactly what the problem is, does he try to make you better by giving you too much gaming advice? Does he make fun of you? Either way, stroke his ego and tell him how good HE is...maybe his gaming abilities are far superior to the general population.

6. Again, if should not matter how good you are, if he is the type that plays constantly and never gets anyhing of importance accomplished (not that he plays constantly, but still gets everything done) then he is a loser! Trust me, I've dated them. If he is younger, he'll grow out of it.

I hope this helps
Reply:you should become better with practice. stop calling her a noob you mean internet people!
Reply:Eventuall you are going to tell him, but he'll soon find out.
Reply:Just don't worry about it. It's awesome for him that you play video games, and you should remind him of that every time you play together.

Try practicing on your own a bit, without him around. I find my gaming performance is much better when I'm not bothered by anyone.

Here's a fun idea: Get a game that neither of you have ever played, practice it until you feel confident in your ability, then challenge him to a few rounds. I guess that's a little childish, but it might deflate his ego a bit. I hate it when anyone puts down someone else's gaming skill, guy or girl!!!
Reply:lol lol /chicken on you noob lol. Ok so i lik ttly pwn and stuf and i wld prbly own him too you know... but if u like ttly own u need to practice sum games like Rts and Fps. MMO's are cool too but they arent rly a game. just strt prcticing and watch purpwnage. You will quickly become gaming influnced n u can lern how to own your BF. #1 rule of gaming is to own. If you aint own you bettr go home and watch some purepwnage cause doug and Jeremey ttly chang my life and now i own. Doesnt matter if u ply games as long as u own. So the only way to stick with him is to own him at his game. Thn he will ttl respect u.
Reply:get him to teach you. Nothing feeds an ego more than asking for help.................noob.

What are the best specifications for gaming computer?

I need a computer for games with excellent specifications. Can some one help me out please ?

What are the best specifications for gaming computer?
If your wanting a serious gaming machine and you have the money then I would recommend an alienware but there are many companies that will custom build your system, that can work out just as gd but for a lot cheaper price.

I would recommend this as a minimum system an AMD Athlon64 X2 3800 Processor (Dual Core); ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB PCI-E (Shader Model 3.0); 1GB RAM; 200GB SATA HDD; A 939 Socket nforce 4 motherboard with PCI Express and SATA support.

This is a good system and will play all of the latest games and should last a long time but Microsoft launches Windows Vista at the beginning of 2007 and that will be the only Windows Operating System to support the new DirectX 10. Therefore I would wait until ATI and nVidia release their cards with Shader Model 4.0 and DirectX 10 support, they should be releasing these by the end of the year. (Upcoming next-gen games such as Cryteks 'Crysis' are DirectX 10 games'.

Just to name a few.
Reply:It recommend you to buy a DELL XPS
Reply:go for a good processor (3GHz+ or AMD64-chipset) and have 1GB+ of RAM and get the latest Graphics Card (VERY important for gaming). You'll need a fair sized harddrive for games (say 160GB+) and a DVD drive.
Reply:p-4 512 mb ram(min) %26gt;2.66 ghz. if possible opengl
Reply:if you know how to build it yourself look at a alienware system and then meet there specs or beat them if you can't build it yourself buy a alienware system
Reply:Video card, memory and processor are very important. I recommend gaming video card like NVIDIA GeForce with 512 mb will do or 1GB memory if you're very hungry for high end gaming. You also need memory with 512 mb or the best is 1GB. In processor you need is 3 Ghz clock speed.

Where Do You See The Industry Of Gaming In Ten Years Time?

What do you think, will advance in the world of gaming in another 10 years time?

Where Do You See The Industry Of Gaming In Ten Years Time?
The foundations for 3D-gaming will be there in ten years. Most games will be played on-line, and there will be commercials in those games. Graphics will become even better, the ingameworlds will became even more elaborate, but the stories will all be the same...
Reply:Wow, to think of how much gaming has changed since Atari, I can only imagine in the next ten years how much games will have changed. Better graphics, but that's a given. More interactivity, more open-ended games, even more epic storylines. Technology is always changing, but I'd say these are some definites. I'd say Sony, Nintendo, and X-box will still be major forces, but look to see another big console in the market (maybe Atari or Sega). When I am a little further in my programming classes, I'll probably be able to give a better anser, so post this question again in a year! LOL!
Reply:i can't say. i mean, in ten years we've gone from the n64 to the wii, the ps to the ps3, nothing to the x-box 360, sega's out of business...see what i mean?

if i had to guess...perhaps virtual reality, like Final Fantasy, but you control where and how the char acts and moves...
Reply:I predict the end of Sony in the gaming industry. I predict more consules will move to handheld units. Of course better graphics. Longer games with crazy stories. The new hyrbrid of movies and games will most likely fail. (see the Halo game Peter Jackson is trying to make). Online gaming will be the norm. Prices of games go up by another $10 making them $70-80 a piece.
Reply:Consoles will continue to look much as they do now, with more connections to other players in online games.

Computer games will become exclusively online. We won't buy games in boxes ten years from now, we will download them as is the case with many MMORPGs, or use a model similar to GameTap's where we will rent them. Piracy will force this model to be adapted.

Are routers and gaming adapters the same thing?

My son's DLink gaming adapter connected to his 360 is going out. Can we just buy a wireless router to replace it or does it specifically have to be a gaming adapter?

Are routers and gaming adapters the same thing?
A router is a device used for multiple connection whether wired or wirelessly connected to it.

The gaming adapter is just a wireless receiver for signals from the router if playing games wirelessly is your concern.

I believe you need both devices (the router and gaming adapter).
Reply:buy for example router: d-link dir-655.

How Do I Get Into Computer Gaming Industry?

My dream job is to play MMORPG games like WoW all day long. How do I get into such industry? I ain't interested in computer programming but I have knowledge in HTML/JavaScript/CSS/SEO and the likes.

How Do I Get Into Computer Gaming Industry?
If you are into JavaScript and web development, I would advise you starting with J2ME (Java for Mobile Devices) and developing small games for mobile devices, www.nokia.com/forum and get the SDK and start learning and gradually moving to other platforms such as PC, XBOX and PlayStation. C++ is widely recognised as the core language for gaming.
Reply:win a LOT of tournies, go to the home office of your favorite compnay, show them a resume of your accomplishments, and ask if they have a testing spot open for a game in development.

BTW- game testers dont get paid very much, and its harder to test than u think. you have to write pages of notes, and summarize them into reports, and you have to be very observant.
Reply:take a course on coputergames the u go to somewher lik codemasters and tell them u ave the qualifications aND WHOLA UR IN

What is a good computer for gaming that is not very expensive?

I would be playing mostly Counter Strike: Source-- But I want the most out of it, over 60 frames per second.

What is a good computer for gaming that is not very expensive?
Dell, get a model for about $1000. I write computer games and this works fine.
Reply:COUNTER STRIKE SOURCE ROCKS!!!!
Reply:Find a computer with a Dual core [Core 2 Duo is the most recent and most powerful] for a fast processor [lowest Dual core is 1.8 each I believe equaling over 3 Ghz].

Find a graphics card that will suit that game, this will obviously vary depending on what other games you want to play.

1 GB of RAM is recommended and is FINE.
Reply:NOT VERY EXPENSIVE is not same with another one...but if you still want a powerful for gaming, just try the PCIe on your graphic card...i suggest you ATi Radeon chipset (If you say, What is a good computer is not the good Question )But the answer is the device/component which give you the better performance....just try it,and get the better advice from your technician support...good luck..

Do you know what computer requirements i need for a computer network gaming business?

Me and my friends want to put up a computer rental business and want our computers to be able to play the new games coming up like command and conquer 3: tiberian wars. Can you recommend the specs for our computer? Thanks!

Do you know what computer requirements i need for a computer network gaming business?
I would go with....

Processor: AMD Athlon 3800+ (Get AM2 motherboard and chip)

RAM: 1 Gig

VideoCard: For what you are doing, a Radeon X1200 or so.

Harddrive: 80 gigs should do it.

Honestly, if you don't know what to put in the computer, I think you shouldn't be starting this kind of business. Also, check on the legality of renting computers with video games installed on them....

Im looking to build myself a new pretty high end gaming computer, whats a good site that has all the guides I'll need?

Whats a good site that has good guides on how to build a good gaming computer?
Maximumpc, their just released current issue has an article on building a DX10 gaming machine. They kept the budget to $1500, so they skipped on a few items like a sound card, but they do regular features on building pc's both in print and online. Their website is below, and if you go to the newsstand and pick up their latest issue, it will show you how to build a gaming rig.

How can I play a game online with my Wii with other people in another state? Does Wii offer online gaming?

I want to play A fun Wii game online with my friends out of state they have internet and a Wii and its all hooked up how can we play games together and what games do you recommend?

How can I play a game online with my Wii with other people in another state? Does Wii offer online gaming?
Hi Christian

You'll need a game with Wi-fi capabilities, look for a blue circular logo stating " Nintendo Wi-fi Connection", here's some examples of games:

*Mario Strikers:Charged Football

*Pokemon Battle Revolution

*Guitar Hero 3

For a full list click the following link and you'll see which games have been and are due to be released and in which region:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wii...

Most games allow random matching (you play others randomly) however if your wanting to play your friends then you'll all need to have the same game and then exchange either "Friend Codes" or with any EA game (Fifa'08/Madden'08 etc..) you'll need to know each others Screen Name/tag or similar (EA games run on their own servers).

Perosnally I'd recommend Mario Strikers, its a great game!

If your ever looking for more Friend Codes or more friends for your address book then go here:

http://www.mapwii.com

The Worlds LARGEST Wii number and Friend Code database (over 22,700 Wii Numbers %26amp; over 1200 Friend Codes.

Simply register, send out a few requests, add the numbers of those you requested to your address book and in no time at your address book will start to fill.

Hope this helps you out!
Reply:Um i think you can buy a special ethernet cable you connect into your internet modem but im not sure, there definatly is online play on wii though
Reply:Do you have your Wii conected to the internet??

If so, it depends on the game to weather or not online play is avaliable

in my opinion a fun online game easy to set up to play with your friends is Guitar Hero 3: Ledgends of Rock--$80 bucks or so at gamestop
Reply:if u have ur wii connected to the internet, then go into a game and on the main menu should be something out nintenfo wifi
Reply:The wii can go online and has many online functions including the news channel, shop channel, and many others. The wii does support online game play but only with some games. You should check the back of the game you purchased to see if online game play is supported. If it is supported then you will need to find your friends. Different games will have different ways of doing this. Some will offer gaming room where your friends and you must all be in the same room, while still others may ask you to type in routing information to find a friend. It all depends on the game. So I would recommend checking out your games specific manual for more information. Best of luck to youa nd happy gaming!
Reply:You will need a game that offers online play, like Mario Strikers, check the game box to see whether a game allows online play or not.

What computer is good for gaming but doesn't cost too much?

I'm talking about: pretty good graphics, won't lag or freeze, can handle games like Bioshock and Spore. But not a really really expensive one.

What computer is good for gaming but doesn't cost too much?
lol, a selfbuilt computer is the best gaming computer...

For the price you'll have to look for yourself, but make sure you get this or better:

2GB RAM

Core2Duo E6400 or a Quad-Core

For the mouse %26amp; keyboard, you'll have to research yourself

500W Power Supply

200GB Hard Disk

8800 GT

You'll need a DVD Drive.

One of these mainboards:

Abit AW9D, Asus P5N, DFI Lanparty P35, MSI P35

And preferrably an extra soundcard, like the Creative X-FI

Headset and the rest what you need, you'll find out yourself.

EDIT: go on dell's page, I heard they have some really nice offers for gaming computers. You can choose what parts you like there and try to get parts based on my recommendation. Good luck!
Reply:that's a tough question....DELL usually comes out with some good computers for that. Alienware is the best gaming comp. I've seen yet, but on the downside it's pretty expensive...I can only tell you all I know. my choice would be a DELL XPS. but I dunno, it's up to you
Reply:Dell is a pretty good computer resonable prices but mac andapple are over priced and apple sucks in general

Where is the best place to post a request or suggestion to gaming programmers and writers?

I would like to suggest to those who have scripting/programming and/or story/code writing capabilities to start their own gaming company. The guys who are out their hacking games and creating some of those great mods and plug-ins that we see, for currently available games. I would like to see them as a company buy out the licenses to some of the games that are no longer selling as well, and make them what they should have been. And of course sell them to us gamers as the remade and better version of the game/games. An example is Vampire. It is still new enough that the guys might not be able to buy the license for it. However it is a good example of a game that had a lot of potential that the, Activision/Sierra/Troika/Whatever other company was involved in produciing it, did not even come close to achieving the games potential. Another older one that could be remade is Arcanum.

Reply:It sounds like what you really have is an idea for a business. If you're really serious, perhaps you should talk to a venture capitalist. Instead of trying to convince coders to do what you want, you could pay them. This is likely to be more effective.

Can someone help me with my gaming chair?

I got a cool gaming chair for christmas. It is really cool and i don't want to take it back. The cables aren't very long and i don't want to continuously keep moving it back and forth around my room to stop people from tripping over the cables. Does a Gaming Pc have all the features a normal pc has but more?

I love video games and i need a new PC, and i was wonderin do gaming pc's have the same features and more

Does a Gaming Pc have all the features a normal pc has but more?
The biggest difference is the gaming PC has a better video card and better sound (usually a SB card) and also you should have surround sound speaker set. Other than the joystick or game pad controller, they are the same.

Same hard drive, memory, processors etc.

The operating system may be the entertainment type rather than the pro but otherwise the systems are quite similar.

Games were for the longest time the pushers of better video, sound and faster processors, more so than business programs. Games require so much due to the programing in them.

So yes all the same features except a little better video, sound capabilities and the extra controllers (joystick and game pad).
Reply:A gaming PC would have more RAM, usually 2-4 gigs, and a very powerful video card. A Basic PC would have a decent amount of RAM but the video card would be generic. It could play some games but you would not get the full graphic potential of the game.

What wireless router should I get if I use my computer for gaming and also have an XBox 360?

Hi! I have two gaming computers playing games like BF2 and ET:QW, and I also play XBox 360 online games, and I have a 3mb cable internet connection through Cable One. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good wireless router so I could stop having wires across my apartment. Distance isn't an issue, everything is pretty close together in my apartment. I'm just worried about speed so I don't lag, and so I'll still get the best out of my internet connection. Thanks for your help!

What wireless router should I get if I use my computer for gaming and also have an XBox 360?
I dont think the 360 has built in wifi. The only way I think you could hook your 360 to the internet with the wifi is to try and install a usb adapter somehow. I have a netgear router that works around the same as Fast Ethernet. I dont think lagging would be a problem with you speed unless you get a wireless b router which is real slow. Good luck.

What is the best motherboard to get for building a gaming computer?

I am building myself a gaming computer and was wondering which motherboard is the cheapest and most useful for making such a computer. I was looking at getting a new ASUS Striker Extreme motherboard, but it is too expensive. So I need a gaming motherboard that is good and cheap. If anyone knows of any motherboards that are great for gaming and are cheap please tell me.

thanx,\

What is the best motherboard to get for building a gaming computer?
you are right about the striker extreme...it is pricey! It is the best, though. Asus has some other 680i offerings for around $150. Check out some of those....they should work well for you. I would try and go with the 680i chipset if possible. It is tops right now.
Reply:Get an Asus P5K board with the P35 chipset. They have a lot of different P5K boards out depending on the memory, if you want Raid etc.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

Use Corsair XMS ram with it. Expect to pay $150 or more for a good gaming board.
Reply:go to www.newegg.com, the latest motherboard would be the am2, components to this type of motherboard varies from cheap to expensive same with the types of motherboards, look around at their selection and check out the ratings given by the people who bought the motherboard, most motherboards are the same just a few slight differences its the video card and the processor that makes or breaks you on gaming
Reply:The one I have is either nforce or nvidia, I cannot remember I bought it off a friend for $75 and had to download the drivers for it.

It's a bright red, amd series, dual pci-e slots that can be bridged, upto 4 gigs of ram i have 1.5 gigs.
