What is the best computer mouse for gaming?

People seem to like the 5-button Intellimouse Optical and the Intellimouse Explorer. But I would like one with 7-buttons because I have a game in mind that would utilize them. The Habu mouse fits the bill except that it has software problems that everyone experiences.

What do you like and why?

What is the best computer mouse for gaming?
The logitech G7 and G5 are excellent for gaming!

G7 here

I have both of them and they are quite smooth and comfortable. You can also change the speed rate on the fly with them.

The G7 has an extra button using the scroll wheel, not the normal click straight down...its totally different. It is clicked to the left and right, imagine a wheel tilting to make a turn and thats what it is. The G7 is wireless and comes with two Lith. Ion. batteries plus a charger.
Reply:I'd suggest these mouses.

Reply:The best gaming mice with the best laser quality seem to be lacking buttons witch is more important in my opinion.

edited--------- I just found more mice on the Microsoft page I am just reading now they look like they can beat both the G5/G7 and the WLM6000.

and when gaming mice have buttons they seem to be in the wrong place.

I use a Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. I find it to be great. Its middle mouse button is a tad bit annoying but still usable. But you can make one of the 2 extra buttons on the side function as the middle mouse button but in 99% of games I do not need the middle mouse button anyhow I find I have lots of room left over fir button placement.

Not so badly priced either and can be found in many stores.

I was going to comment on the mouse mentioned in the post above mine. That G7 is pretty good mouse for gaming with smooth and strong laser stability but really I cannot seem to notice the difference compared to the WLM6000. and the G7/G5 extra buttons suck because of were they are placed. Because you need to move your index finger from the L or R mouse buttons to press the Plus or minus. When you can use the 2 on the WLM6000 in conjunction with the L or R using your thumb. and that does make a big difference.
