What video gaming skills can be transferred to the real world?

I know of reaction times, hand-to-eye coordination, and quick thinking, but how do you think these and others might be useful in the real world?

What video gaming skills can be transferred to the real world?
the ability to deal with mindless people who only appear intelligent, but any amount of observation proves they are only interested in the most basic things in life...
Reply:Puzzle games "train" your brain. There have been studies that prooved that people playing puzzle games can significantly improve memory and even in some cases prevent alzheimers.
Reply:How about killing innocents?
Reply:Patience is very important in say, Zelda. I've been playing that for many years, and I'm told I'm the most patient person anyone knows. Also, it also taught me to read- back in the days before games actually spoke, you had to read the text to know what to do next. Not to mention, games like Nintendogs are excellent if you want a taste of what it's like to have a pet.

Some games like Pokemon teach you committment, because if you don't train all of your Pokemon, you're gonna have a hard time in the game.

Hope I answered your question!
Reply:I used to teach DTP and computer graphics. One thing I noticed was that students who played computer games had better problem solving skills than those who didn't and learnt computer skills faster.
Reply:haha, not much but video games help with hand-eye coordination
Reply:there's an irish university offering a degree in computer games!!!lol
Reply:Well games like Ninja Gaiden teach you patience when doing something overwhelming. For example, the giant freak with no neck who, after you kill him at first, becomes a crab-like thing covered in skulls looks menacing and hard to beat (he is) but with patience and keeping your cool you could beat him. That's easily transferable into everyday life.
Reply:I would say reflexes because that could be very helpful in real life!
Reply:Knowing who to kill and who not to.. that's useful in everyday life..
Reply:hang to eye co-ordination is useful for alot of things including sports, and so is quick thinking and good reactions to things
