Does hooking up a gaming system to a TV damage the TV?

Well, I hooked up my WII to my HD TV and after using it for a month, the color turned out to be all messed up. Is it possible that when I hook up my gaming systems to this TV, that the color and everything gets messed up? Thanks. :]

You're in the RIGHT category....but we could use MORE information about the TYPE of TV you have.....

A game can BURN images into certain TV sets, especially TV sets that use PHOSPHOR to create the picture....

Plasmas, and CRT TV sets use phosphor as does Projection CRT units....

But did you also KNOW that SXRD and LCOS and even LCD projection can burn due to the Massive HEAT coming off the lamp and Toasting Closed Pixels to the point the %26lt;ahem%26gt; Hinges weld shut?

(Ok techies, I know there are no hinges, but I'm TRYING my best to explain this in UNDERSTANDABLE TERMS)

Anyways, there is ONLY ONE TYPE of TV set that does NOT BURN or Weld the hinges shut and that is.....

The DLP (Digital light processing) Projection TV set.....

I have EVEN seen one customer that used 4:3 format on his LCD PANEL TV set and burn %26lt;ahem again%26gt; the edge of the 4:3 picture into his 16:9 display after a year....

EVERYTHING SUCKS Except DLP !! There....I said it!

And Now....I gotta listen to a rousing rendition of that much loved Disco song "Burn Baby Burn" aka Disco Inferno....

I don't know if you burned an image into your TV set or not, but it's sometimes mistaken as a color problem....the big question is....DOES the color problem STAY in one place? Then it's a burn....

If you find the color just WRONG all the time, Gently yet FIRMLY push all connectors back into the holes on the TV and the Box/Game/DVD etc.....

They do have a tendency to loosen over time.....
Reply:Thanks for all your answers. :] Report It

Reply:No it shouldn't mess your TV up.
Reply:Ive had game systems hooked to everyone of my tvs, and never had a problem. Plus right now I have a Wii, PS3 %26amp; Xbox360 hooked up to my tv. The only way I know a game system can harm a tv is burn in. Like say you pause a game and leave it on all day...that image can burn into your screen and alway be there. (cant happen with LCD screen). Other than that a game system shouldnt harm your tv. hope that helped!!

also if its messing up while you are playing or watching cable...check all the cords in the back...unplug then plug them back in...that happened with my cable once and one of the inputs were damaged...
Reply:I think that the TV is not related to the Wii gaming system - u can go get it repaired and ask why
Reply:no theres something wrong with your tv
