What's the best way to buy a great gaming laptop without paying stupid prices?

I game with Everquest 2, Call of Duty 2, Battle for MIddle Earth, etc....high performance games but my wife and I can't afford stupid dell or alienware prices. I want a killer machine for less than a grand...where can I get it?

I dont know, i think Alienware would be the best thing. Your right though they are expencive, have you tried any of their cheapest comps. or laptops? My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5100, but it cant handle my games. It overheats alot and no its not the battery, i checked. I think a 300 dollar laptop would suit you fine, try an HP.
Reply:try these forums, www.fatwallet.com they post deals for everything you can imagine, you can search for laptops in the forums
Reply:All of the high-end gaming PC's that you are looking for are going to cost over a grand I hate to say. There is no gaming PC that will cost under 1G if you are looking for a gaming PC under 1G you might as well customize your own.
Reply:Unfortunately with notebooks it's tough. No plain vanilla build-it-yourself options.

You might also post this question on the Vanguard forums in the programming section (which has degenerated into a discussion of hardware to play high-end games, with Vanguard's release upcoming)

Being an EQ2 person, the game might look pretty good, too ;)
