Has anybody thought about boycotting video games and gaming systems?

These things cost too much money, and change too much. After a few years, the system you love is out of date and you can no longer buy things for it. It gets old after awhile and the videogame industry keeps making money with this strategy.

Has anybody thought about boycotting video games and gaming systems?
Xbox fans boycott PS3, Wii and vice versa. Thats all. Games are gettin betta thats why the price increase. Nobody will go outside wit signs.
Reply:Well, I thought about boycotting Sony because they put out weird CDs that put spyware on your computer if you tried to play them on your computer. But I love games so much so I guess I'm a weak person lol.

As for the price if they charge so much no one will buy, but people are buying so I can't blame them for that.
Reply:What else am I going to do?

Seriously though, the video game market isn't a monopoly. There are multiple HUGE businesses trying to compete with each other. As long as there's more than one they're each going to be driving each other forward. When one of the big 3 decides it's time to update the other 2 are going to have to follow or else they'll get left behind.

I guess you could just play nice, cheap flash games.
Reply:not playstation they are still but slowly stop making some for older playsation 2 and psp, but xbox on the other hand. it doesnt matter. I thought about doing that but if you want to do something boycotting isnt the way to go on this cause people like to play games and you wouldnt be able to get enough people to do it...But you could, it wouldnt stop that one person who loves spending money on games or saves money if you know how to use those save on trad ins and that store credit to save money on it. there is a way to save money on them by using those offers.
Reply:Im a gamer myself, and I think that its the choice of the people if they want to spend their money on new games. I stopped doing that and began playing free mmorpgs and i dont intend to pay any time soon.
Reply:If boycotting the industry is your plan, you can still play lots of free games online. "Casual games" are becoming more sophisticated every year. You won't believe how well-designed some games are and you'll like the simple arcade games too.

http://www.addictinggames.com is a fun site with hundreds of titles in different genres.

Another route is to play PC games. Better graphics, and more depth than a console game.

However Xbox 360 and PS3 will be around for some time. PS2 is still getting new games 7 years later. I've heard no talk of discontinuing the PS2. PS4 won't be out for another 10 years, and by then there will be some great titles for PS3. Same story with Xbox 3.
