How important is a graphic card for gaming? And what difference will shared and not be?

I want a laptop and would partly like to use it for games! =)

How important is a graphic card for gaming? And what difference will shared and not be?
Graphics card is very important for any gaming beyond Windows Solitaire.

Shared graphics is far less expensive but also far less capable and is generally considered unfit to play modern games as well as run graphically intensive programs such as Adobe Flash.
Reply:Graphics are half of what games are all about.

You've gotta have a decent video card in my opinion.
Reply:Graphics cards are desperately needed for gaming. They are the key component to running a game and many games won't allow you to play them if your card isn't to specifications. So the true question is what games do you plan to play and what are their necessary specifications for the video card!

As for the sharing part, that really doesn't matter. Laptops that have been built for gaming work great for other task as well, and usually work better. If you plan to use the laptop to store data more than playing games, make sure you get at least a 100GB hard drive that is compatible with your video card!
Reply:depends on the type of games you like to play. You will definetely need a good graphics card if you plan on playing anything with good graphics, which most games have high graphics now. You will also need at least a gig of ram to run most games good. Two gig is alot better. Spend the extra cash and then you won't have to worry if you puter can run the games or not.
Reply:graphic card plays a vital role while gaming especially if the game has good graphics and 3D environment.without the card the game may not run or too slow to play .
Reply:Graphic card is VERY important for a gaming machine. You dont wanna share memory, as memory is another VERY important item for gaming. Get a good card, with good onboard memory.
