Why is there such a battle between next gen gaming consoles?

This has been bothering me for many months now. Everyone has a favourite console, and they have good reasons, but what bothers me is how determined they are to prove that it's the best. What I want to know is why people become so single-minded and biased?

People that do that are somwhat insecure. In order to convince themselves they've made the right decision and are 'cool' they try to conver others into their camp. After all, if there's a bunch of people that agree with you, it can't be wrong, right?





But then there's people in a different camp! Obviously, their opinion is wrong, otherwise the person's opinion would have been wrong, and he/she didn't make the right decison and isn't 'cool'. So, to make themselves feel secure, they tell the people in the other camp that they're wrong and that their system of choice is way better.
Reply:that way they can say they have the best one, it is all about money. You dont want to tell all your freinds you just went out and spent a load of cash on second best do you?

But among Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft, they wants their console to be the best. In business, there's no such thing as "to each its own". Your aim is to be the best choice for everyone...
Reply:You have to be a gamer to understand. It's exactly like "Ford is better than Chevrolet" mentality, or "Gatorade is better than water"
Reply:to show what they have was value for money and was worth it, and to prove to others that theres isnt as good, and they should buy it, its all about labels and money
Reply:Because we're all convinced that ours is the best. We are stubborn, and downright stupid because all the consoles are good. What I think it boils down to is labels. Many think that the PS3 are for chavs (which isn't true), the Wii for kids (which totally isn't true Resi Evil can dispell that) and the 360 for microsoft lovers. (which, again, isn't true).


We all label each other, but some do want to be labeled.


It is stupid coz some people have most consoles and enjoy the best of the games. Which is what we all should be doing.
