What do you need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for?

First question is in the title.

Second question is, what are some accessories that are good/nice to have with your 360? Do new 360's still have the overheating problem?

What do you need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for?
As for your first question, its for connecting it to your PC so you can use you wireless controller on PC Games.

And on 2, I just bought my Xbox 360 2 weeks ago, 25 Oct, and i usually dont play too long becuase i touch it and its kinda hot after 30 minutes, so i turn it off, and play again after a while, that how i avoid overheating.
Reply:As was said the wireless gaming receiver allows you to use the wireless controllers for the XBox 360 on your PC. That way if you really like using the 360 controller for playing Gears of War, you can now use them on your PC for taht game when it comes out on PC.

One accessory I recommend is the play and charge kit. It's a rechargable battery and USB cable to recharge it. The battery replaces the battery pack in the controller and the USB cable plugs into the top of the controller and the front of the 360. It's a good long 10 ft cord like the old XBox controllers, so if your battery dies, you just plug in the cable, keep playing, and recharge the battery all at once.

I've been lucky (knocks on wood), I bought a 360 on launch day and haven't had any problems with it overheating. I keep it in an area that has good air flow and I alos keep the brick of a transformer by itself in the back of teh entertainment center. Supposedly the newer 360s are supposed to have better heat dissipation.
Reply:I'm not sure how to answer your first question...

But, if you're going to play online, definitely invest in a headset. The basic one is $20 and works just fine. I find that it definitely enhances game play by allowing you to communicate with other players.

I think the overheating problem was fixed quite a while ago. I've never had a problem with mine, nor have any of my friends.

Enjoy!
