Yes you can, it is called a barebones notebook. New Egg has some kits on sale. Asus brand are all kits put together and sold by a retailer. It is not easy. Google barebone laptops. Check my link for more information.

You can not buy a case, motherboard, video, and sound cards for the your system.
You would have to buy a high end laptop and add more memory and a larger hard drive, these are the only modifications you can make to a laptop.
