Reply:if you have any windows operating system you can go online and get free upgrade packages for your computer at microsoft.com this usually makes your computer go faster. you can also run the disk defragmenter. this organzes your files so that your computer can access the info on your hardrive faster. this keeps lag at a minimum
Reply:you really cant do much, it depends on what you have in your machine. If you want though you can search downloads.com or tucows.com for gaming utilities, which they always carry.
Reply:As mentioned in other answers - the most bang for your buck is going to be increasing your memory %26amp; CPU. Memory upgrades are rather cheap - but CPU upgrades are likely better handled by buying a new computer - unless you are techie of sorts. Check out a site like http://www.crucial.com or the vendor of your computer hadware to determine how much RAM (memory) your computer will support before buying more. Other options you can do:
1. Get a better video card (typically makes rendering graphics much better. You willl notice a good performance boost for gaming
2. Increase the pagefile size
3. Disable shadowing or other effects in the game itself (less pretty but better performance)

Does the benefits outway the cost of a liquid cooled gaming pc?
A liquid cooled gaming pc cost about 500 bucks more than a conventional fan cooled.I was wondering if it is worth it or not.

You realy only need a liquid cooling if you intend to drasticly overclock your CPU, RAM and your graphics card to increase performance...otherwise its not worth it, you can get away with stock cooling if you only do some minor overclocking and if you intend to do a bit more overclocking a nice big heatsink and fan will easily suffice
Reply:If you are a really hardcore gamer, not a casual one, I mean 5-15 hours a day every day on something like Battlefield 2 or 2142 then yes, but even if you play 2-3 hours a day on a game like Farcry or Farcry 2 it's not worth it. Liquid cooled machines are for the hardcore gamer.
Reply:I'm considered a "hard core gamer" buy some definition. I DON'T have liquid cooling on my system and I'm not going to either. What I have now works just fine for me, which is not a stock cooling system but, beefed up ones with after market heat sinks and fans.

These things cost too much money, and change too much. After a few years, the system you love is out of date and you can no longer buy things for it. It gets old after awhile and the videogame industry keeps making money with this strategy.

As for the price if they charge so much no one will buy, but people are buying so I can't blame them for that.

Seriously though, the video game market isn't a monopoly. There are multiple HUGE businesses trying to compete with each other. As long as there's more than one they're each going to be driving each other forward. When one of the big 3 decides it's time to update the other 2 are going to have to follow or else they'll get left behind.
I guess you could just play nice, cheap flash games.

What would be a good, solid gaming computer or build that isn't to overpriced like Alienware, or to cheap and crappy. Im thinking of a mid-range computer for someone who plays computer games like WoW but not graphic intensive games like Crysis or Bioshock.

Reply:Get a DELL. They are the best. Have had 3 DELL computers, and nothign has ever gone wrong. Currently have a DELL laptop, it is great for using the internet and playing games. The laptop I have is the DELL INSPIRON 640m.

most laptops with an intel core 2 duo and shared graphics can run most games form the past few years.
my macbook can run the games in the orange box (HL2, EP1,EP2,portal,TF2)
However it gets incredibly hot.
For the best gaming laptop get one with dedicated graphics, but you will have to pay for it.
also you may want one with wifi that supports the "n" standard because its the fastest possible depending on your router.

Whatever you buy won't perform to an acceptable level as a games platform. A second hand PC with a half decent graphics card falls within your budget.
If you can wait till quad core arrives, dual core machines will be going cheap.

Can anyone recommend a good pair of headphones for gaming and dvd?
I own a ps3 and soon, an xbox 360, I want the clearest sound with deep bass and good clear treble etc. It can be wireless or wired however the wire needs to be long else it wont stretch to where im sitting. The input should be from a headphone connector thing or/and a optical cable or from component cables etc. Price doesnt matter although sub 100 pounds would be nice. Oh and the headphones need to be in ear or closed, not open Thx

How can I reach a gaming company to offer my ideas to them?
I want to contact two companies Bioware/ Obsidian/ Lucasarts and Nintendo/ Camelot for two ideas i had. Ok, maybe that's five companies, but I'm not sure who it would be best to contact, either. For my first idea, I want to give the KotOR team ideas about armor and stuff like that, and a story idea. For my other idea, I want to give/sell my story idea for a sequel to a game called Golden Sun: The Lost Age. I know what you will probably say, that "non-socilated ideas are refused to be read by companies." Yeah, i've heard that one before, straight from Nintendo. But still, there is a rumor going around that Knights of the Old Republic 3 is in production, and I wanted to give my ideas to them before they complete the game, if they are actually going to complete it. It will be years until I get my major in writing, so I can't exactly tell them that it is a socilitated message, now can i? If i can pull this off, it might help my college and professional career. Any help would be nice. thx
